Matthäus Passion
Bach's Matthäus Passion is one of his best-known compositions in the Netherlands and also one of the longest. It tells the story of Jesus' suffering and death as described in the gospel according to Matthew.
And the Matthäus Passion performed in Sint-Catherijnekerk is well-known for its excellent quality. The best conductors, musicians, vocalists and choirs are invited every year to take part. Performed in what musicians visiting Brielle sometimes refer to as 'the intimate cathedral', the concert is an impressive event performed annually in two parts.
The event is organised by the Collegium Vocale Briele foundation, led by Irene Kleinjan. Tickets are for sale each year at www.collegiumvocalebriela.nl/
