Brielse Meer
Brielle and water have been inextricably linked for centuries. Brielse Meer used to be called the Brielse Maas (Meuse) and the tributary of the river was an important shipping route. Nowadays, however, it's a wonderful recreation area and above all: a paradise for water sports enthusiasts!
The water flows through the area for roughly ten kilometres, and on both shores you'll find grassy banks, marinas, freely accessible moorings, beaches, a naturist area, campsites and bars and restaurants. The possibilities are endless. Rent a boat, or sailing boat, and you can sail right into Brielle town centre. You can also surf, dive, swim or fish. Maybe you prefer to keep your feet dry? There are hiking, cycling and horse-riding trails around the lake. And of course, you can always just relax on one of the beaches!
It goes without saying that Brielle protects its nature reserves, so there are rules in place to make sure that ever growing and living thing is protected during water sports.
