Maarlandhaven

Brielle's historic harbour, on the Maarland, is located in a setting of centuries-old warehouses. A lovely, nostalgic spot on the waterside, where there are also pavement cafés. One of the buildings worth seeing is the Poortwachtershuisje (gatekeeper's lodge) originating from the mid-18th century. The lodge was part of the 17th-century Waterpoort of Den Briel which was demolished in 1894. It's now a private house. The former Sloepenloods (sloops shed) is another striking building.
